Gray Leadbetter Back in Action at Dirt City Motorplex After First Win of Season at ERX

Defending Pro Spec champion remains six for six in podium appearances this season

2022 Championship Off-Road Pro Spec champion Gray Leadbetter brings plenty of momentum into this weekend’s Championship Off-Road action in the #28 Bilstein Chevrolet Colorado for Ryan Beat Motorsports. After winning her first race of 2023 two weekends ago at ERX Motor Park, Leadbetter enters the Dirt City Motorplex Off-Road National with podiums in all six races so far this season, putting her just three points out of the championship lead.

“We’re fired up to get back on track this weekend at Dirt City!” said Leadbetter. “Getting back on top of the box at ERX was huge and keeping the podium streak alive was great, and it felt even better to do it with our special breast cancer awareness paint scheme. Now, we’re in the thick of a tight points battle with momentum on our side. I was able to take a win here last year, and I’m looking forward to trying to get another one for R/BM, Team Chevy, Bilstein, Pennzoil, Toyo, and all our partners!”

Leadbetter’s first win of the year came through a smart and calculated drive in the first race from Minnesota. After quickly slotting into a podium position after the green flag flew, she raced patiently as the two racers in front of her made mistakes, opening the door for her to cruise to the win by almost four seconds. She backed it up with a second place finish on Saturday, matching her results from 2022, and posted the fastest laps of the race on both days. All of this came in the debut of a special breast cancer awareness paint scheme on the #28 truck, a cause especially important to Leadbetter, as her mom won the battle twice.

Much like last year, the top few names in the Pro Spec standings are closely matched, but a close points battle doesn’t faze Leadbetter—nor does the track at Dirt City. In fact, her active podium streak in the Pro Spec class dates to a win here in the second race last year, for a total of 11 consecutive races (almost a full season) on the box.
