Thompson, Letner Team Up For Second Straight Win to Kick off 2021 at Silver State 300

Now that Kevin Thompson and Harley Letner are carrying the #1 on the side of their Trick Truck in Best in the Desert action, they don’t seem inclined to give it up anytime soon.

After scoring the top spot in the season-opening Parker 425, the Concrete Motorsports duo teamed up once again to take the win in the Jimco Racing Silver State 300. Despite a closely fought battle where six Trick Trucks finished within 10 minutes of one another, their winning time of 4:42:20.952 was good enough to beat Kyle Jergensen by a minute and 43 seconds. Adam Householder completed the podium, a further two minutes and 24 seconds behind, flipping finishing positions with Jergensen from the opener in Parker.

The top six in the premier UTV Pro Turbo class was split by roughly the same margin, as Can-Am standout and fellow defending BITD champion Phil Blurton successfully defended last year’s victory in a close fight with 2020 UTV World Championship winner Ryan Piplic and 2020 Mint 400 winner Branden Sims in their Polaris RZRs. Can-Am and Polaris entries split the spoils across the board at Silver State, with Polaris locking out the UTV Pro NA podium led by JD Marsh and Can-Am doing the same in UTV Unlimited.

Close finishes were common in the top classes on Saturday, with Ray Griffith’s 13-second margin of victory over Justin Blower in Class 6100 and Chris Blais’ 15-second win over Randy Raschein in UTV Unlimited two of the tightest. The entire Class 6100 podium was split by just 63 seconds, with Dustin Grabowski joining Griffith and Blower in the top three.

The 2021 Best in the Desert season continues on May 21-23 with the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Hare & Hound World Championship, which will pay points for motorcycles only. The rest of the BITD classes will return to action for their third of five races in 2021 in August, when all divisions will take on the 25^th Anniversary Maxxis Tires Casey Folks Vegas to Reno.
