Being the son of an off-road legend is not an easy task, Especially when that legend is rock racing superstar and builder Shannon Campbell who epically personifies the DIY punk rock ethos of off-road racing. From literally driving over competitors, to hand building the most advanced rock racing vehicles on the planet, to winning King of the hammers 3 times overall Shannon is the Johnny Cash of off-road racing. So if you are his son, how do you not let that shadow crush you? You do everything your dad did at a younger age. You race, win, build cars and just step into the fray knowing that you are meant to do this. At 23 years old Wayland has won multiple championships and the Baja 1000 in class. You can bet on the fact that Wayland will have a long and successful career in off-road racing.
Wayland Campbell’s new Ultra 4 car is the evolution distilled from years of rock racing knowledge. Wayland took the best attributes from his dad’s car and his sisters car and made his own hybrid. Hand built by Wayland from concept to completion, this Gen 4 Ultra 4 Campbell car is powered by a Chevy LS7 tall deck turnkey engine, with 830hp giving the 4800lb car plenty of power for the rocks and open desert. Sitting on 40” Nitto Tires wrapped around Walker Evans Forged 17” inch beadlocks, this car boasts 28 inches of travel in the back and 18 inches in the back. Waylands car features Independent suspension on all four corners with 3” Fox shox coil overs with 3.5 bypass on the rear and 2.5” Fox shox coil overs with 3.5 bypass on the front.
Wayland chose the single seat format because, “Sometimes I get a little wild and I want to be responsible for someone else’s life”. Check this spectacular machine in all it’s glory and detail!
