We don’t need to see another press release about how team-x is ready for the Baja 1000. Nobody cares. If you do well, send out a press release, if you don’t, write a race report and post it on your website and social media. Sending out press releases about how you almost won means nothing. Celebrate your victories and report on your racing. Send Press releases to new media outlets and potential sponsors. Don’t just keep sending them to the same media outlets. Invite writers to come and be a part of your race experience. Some of the best articles that I have read on off-road racing have been written by journalists who were embedded in race teams. The allure of the experience off-road racing has a value. Remember whether articles get written about you or not is your responsibility unless you have the budget for a publicist. You need to be friendly and accessible. It’s also a good idea to have photos ready to send to any media outlet that requests them.
It doesn’t matter whether you race a Class 1, Trophy Truck, Class 10 or a UTV, you can get sponsored! Getting sponsors for your off-road racing program requires time and effort, but it’s not impossible to find a company to sponsor your race car. Check back weekly, we’ll be sharing sponsorship best practices from veteran off-road racers and industry experts.
